If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival.  There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

-Winston Churchill

I don’t believe it!

How is it possible that the “glorious” Palestinian leadership could conspire against its own people? How could Mr. Abbas and his cohorts implicitly support the atrocious Israeli demands vis-à-vis the returning Palestinian pilgrims to their homes? By passing through the Israeli check-points, many Palestinians would surely be detained by the Israeli authorities. Almost the whole world condemned the Israeli demands, but not a word of protest from the PA. Is it far-fetched that the PA became the new enemy of its own people?

The freedom of movement is guaranteed by all human rights charters in the world, but not by Israel and its PA protégé. The Palestinians have been suffering under the yoke of Israeli oppression and its western supporters for the last sixty years, but no one, in his wildest dreams, could envisage that its own leadership could become one of its own enemies.

And now the Palestinian premier Salam Fayyad under the instructions of Mr. Abbas comes up with a new surprise when he condemned the death of two Israeli soldiers by the Palestinian leadership. Thousands of Palestinians are killed by these soldiers every time they rampage into the occupied territories, yet protests by the PA against these Israeli crimes did not exceed its usual mild scolding that you can hear from Israelis pacifists themselves.

Does Fayyad know that these soldiers were not killed while they were on a picnic or a charitable mission in the occupied lands, but they were there to kill more of the Palestinians? Is Mr. Fayyad now opposed to the right of the oppressed to fight the cruel Israeli occupation? This right has been supported by the UN in its several resolutions that gives the right to the oppressed to fight occupation by all possible means including armed struggle.

Is it possible that the PA leadership has switched sides in this struggle for freedom? How long, after Annapolis peace conference, did the Israeli wait before they started its customary raids against Gaza while starting new settlements? The Palestinian leaders actions borders on shameful treason when they resist the resistance for freedom. They are either naïve or conspirators when they negotiate peace with Israel while depriving themselves from other options if such negotiations fail.

Olmert and his gangs did not forget Ben-Gurion lesson when he told his leaders to tell the Arabs what they like to hear in order to give themselves the time to create new facts on the ground. The PA should leave the option of resistance open until Israel abides by international legalities. This lesson the PA should have learned not only from contemporary history but also from their history of struggle against the Zionists occupation. The Vietcong were in full resistance against the US while their representatives negotiating peace in Paris. Peace could never be achieved unless the enemy realizes that other options are still available to the oppressed.

Abbas and his cohorts should be removed immediately from their positions while honorable resistance should be revived. Fierce resistance to the cruel Israeli occupation should become the only practical strategy used to achieve liberation. Any other strategy is doomed to total failure as we all have witnessed for the last sixty years.
